Our Mission

Ride On’s mission is to promote the welfare people with any type of physical, intellectual or cognitive disability and of at-risk youth by means of equine assisted activities and therapies; and by providing instruction and education for all in equestrian-related social, vocational and recreational activities.

Our History

  • 1994

    FOUNDING OF RIDE ON
    Ride On gives their first lesson in March at Stoney Point Stables. Volunteers brought horses from the backyards of three neighbors, gave some lessons and rode them home.

  • 1995

    MOVE TO BROKEN TREE RANCH AND GAIN ACCREDITATION
    Ride On grows to serve more individuals with disabilities and moves to their home for the next 15 years on Chatsworth Street.

  • 1996

    PARALYMPICS
    Ride On’s co-founders travel to Atlanta for the Paralympic Equestrian Competition. Gloria as a three-time coach of US international teams and Bryan as manager of the championship day of competition.

  • 1997

    PACIFIC RIM/CALNET INTERNATIONAL SHOW
    Ride On assumes management of the CALNET Show and hosts an international show with Paralympic judges and riders from five countries including Japan and Israel.

  • 2001

    WALNUT GROVE EQUESTRIAN CENTER SERVING THE CONEJO VALLEY
    Ride On is invited to open a second facility serving the Conejo Valley. The Conejo Recreation and Park District offers Ride On a 40-year lease for a 13-acre abandoned equestrian facility. Ride On races furiously to open a second accredited program while raising funds to rehabilitate the abandoned ranch.

  • 2010

    PERMANENT HOME IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY
    Ride On fulfills its long-standing promise to acquire a permanent home serving the San Fernando Valley. The $1.1 million acquisition was the result of years of planning and fundraising.

  • 2015

    SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD GAMES
    Ride On is selected to manage the Equestrian Competition for the Los Angeles Special Olympics World Games. Our job is to find 85 horses suitable for 135 athletes with intellectual disabilities and mount an international competition.

  • 2016

    EDUCATION AND THERAPY BUILDING
    Ride On completes construction of an Education and Therapy Building offering space for training, workshops, therapy and accessible bathrooms!

  • 2017

    100,000 LESSONS MILESTONE
    In February Ride On surpasses 100,000 lessons given in our history. Each year that number grows by 7,000 or so lessons given to over 225 individuals with disabilities.

  • 2019

    Rancho Potrero
    Ride On is invited by the City of Thousand Oaks to build a Community Equestrian Education Center at Rancho Potrero

  • 2023

    Ride On expands into Pasadena
    MACH 1’s founder retires and asks Ride On to continue her legacy in Pasadena
